- 4 GB DDR3 RAM
- 1 TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive

Solid performance for everyday user, easily upgraded to Windows 8.1 Considered ‘essential and entry-level’ by Lenovo, these are impressive, zippy little desktops! That’s my first impression of the Lenovo H530s with the Intel Core i3-4130 Processor 3.4 GHz(3 MB cache), 1TB 7200RPM hard drive and 4GB of DDR memory at 1600Mhz, which I unboxed and updated with Windows 8.1 (free download from the Microsoft site) along with all the current Windows Updates. This is to be a gift, and I know the recipient is going to love the upgrade from her old Dell with a Celeron under the hood. The gift is for an intermediate user of Windows PCs who has never used Windows 8. She has fairly basic needs: email, web browsing, listening to music, watching Netflix, online shopping, Skype with the grandkids, online games, Facebook and occasionally doing minor edits on photos with . She’s not a power user or ‘gamer’, who needs an enhanced video or sound card, and is pleased when things just run smoothly without crashing. This PC will do all that, very easily. For me, an advanced PC user who likes to multi-task, works with photos and video a lot, I would need to upgrade the memory (maximum supported by 2 dimms is 16GB with 4GB installed using two 2GB sticks currently) and use the two available PCI-Express slots for upgrading the video and sound. For the money, this is a good buy! It’s a bit larger than the which if I’d been purchasing this PC for me, I’d have gotten for the dual DVI and smaller size. Both PCs are well rated by Consumer Reports – yet another reason I choose them over a Dell 660 which I considered at the same general price point. With both a HDMI port and (2) USB 3.0 ports, it was odd that it didn’t have a DVI port. I guess the good news is that if you have a monitor with a VGA connection it’ll work, and you can always pick up a if you have a DVI port on your monitor and want to hook-up to the HDMI on this PC.Microphone and speaker jacks are on the front and back of this PC, as are USB 2.0 ports. There’s a total of (6) USB ports – (4) USB 2.0 and (2) USB 3.0, as well as a multi-card reader in the front of the case right underneath the power button on the top of the case. It reads: SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC/MMC plus/MS/MS pro cards. The DVD burner drive is vertical in the case. Due to airflow openings, the case cannot be horizontally placed. The drive works, but care will be needed when using it. Good thing most things are done via the Internet and most people don’t use the drive that often anyway. The PC is fairly quiet, but fan noise is noticeably louder than with a laptop. The case seems to stay very cool, and I noted no surges of fan noise while working on updating this PC for about 5 hours. This Lenovo H530s would be a good choice for an all-around family or small business PC. Lots of hard drive space (1TB is actually 903GB of usable storage space with the OS, drivers and programs on it), and a HDMI port to allow it to be hooked up to your HDTV, also make it a good choice for a media server.I like it very much, and I would buy another one. Speedy, well-built and inexpensive. This desktop ships with USB keyboard and mouse, power cable, Windows 8 driver pack and User Guide. The Windows 8.1 update was something I sought out as I’d read of the improvements made for a better user’s experience. No upgrade CD is included, you go to Microsoft to download and install the update yourself.FYI…Windows 8.1 makes some nice improvements that users of Windows 7 will appreciate!PROS: H530s+ Large 1TB 7200RPM hard drive = 903GB of usable storage space (OS, programs and drivers take up the other space).+ Fast processor which works well with the 4GB installed memory+ USB 3.0 ports (2)+ Mulit-media card reader+ Microphone and headset jacks on both front and back of PC+ Wireless (built-in with no external antenna)+ Wired Ethernet port+ DVD burner+ Expandable to 16GB DDR 1600Mhz memory; 2 dimms (slots) currently filled with (2) 2GBs of memory.+ (2) expansion slots for upgrading; PCI-ECONS: H530s- Windows Experience Index rating = 4.4 (based upon lowest score; graphics) – bumps to 5.9 if you remove that score from the equation.- NO Bluetooth; can get a …
DVD drive makes loud whining noise. got this on a lightning deal during black Friday, so for just over $300 how can this be less than 5 stars? Quick start, not too much bloatware, pretty fast and so far very reliable. I’ve got it on dual monitors and it doesn’t even hiccup (yet). also very expandable :). the 4th gen i3 works better than my 2nd gen i5 laptop.
DVD makes loud whining noise. I tried to use 2 dvds to tests but it still does the same. Everything is immaculate except for the dvd drive. I had to return it.
