This is an extremely powerful battery pack with above average performance in charging your devices! This battery pack is beautifully packaged with white case with a silver band around it. It is a powerful battery pack rated at 13,000 mAh of capacity and capable of charging two devices simultaneously. I put together a video of the unit and the test results for your review. The white exterior shell looks fantastic and does not show fingerprints. The battery weighs in at 10 5/8 ounces. The battery pack has two USB output ports that output 5 VDC at 1 Amp and the second one outputs 5 VDC at 2 Amps. This is ideal to allow you to charge two devices at the same time and one of them can be a tablet.During the testing the temperature of the battery pack never even exceeded ambient room temperature. To start your device charging you connect it with the proper cable and press the battery pack’s power button and charging starts. The charging will stop automatically when your device is fully charged or the battery pack is depleted. This battery pack also features a LED flashlight built in that can stay on for up to 600 hours when the battery is fully charged. This is ideal for when you travel to have an emergency light in a hotel room, when looking for your keys or when in a dark movie theater. This product is very good and I rate it at 5 stars. I was able to get 75.5% of the battery’s rated capacity out of it in my testing and that is very good. If you are a business person or a student and have to depend on your tablet or smart phone for long periods of time without the ability to get to an AC power source then this is a good battery to own. This is good for those who travel a lot or camp out. Now you can watch your movies or listen to your music on those long airline flights. You should note that I did not operate my devices while I charged them but the iPhones were on, connected to the wireless supplier’s towers and in all cases the devices WIFI was active.Items in the box:* The Anker 13000 mAh battery* The battery pack comes with an instruction manual* A USB to round pin charging cable that is 27 inches long* Three different phone adapters* It does not come with an AC wall charging adapter.Anker Astro E4 13000mAh External Battery Charger Features:* There are two USB power output ports and they are USB 1 rated at 5VDC at 1 Amp, USB 2 rated at 5VDC at 2 Amp for iPads and tablets.* Press the ON button when you plug in a device and that begins the charging process of your device. (Approximately 26+ hours with a 500 mAh USB 2.0 Port.)* It will take 13+ hours minimum to charge the battery pack with a 5 VDC USB rated at 1 Amp.* The battery pack can output 3 Amps max at one time so it can charge two devices simultaneously.* The unit has a LED flashlight that can be turned on by quickly double pressing the power switch. It can be on for up to 600 hours continuously. You turn it off by double pressing the power switch again.Charging my devices:I charged the battery pack fully before I started my test. Like a wall outlet, anywhere… even while mobile Like a wall outlet, anywhere… even while mobileI go over different aspects in my 5-minute video review, so please check that out for more info.Frankly, I wouldn’t have thought to buy this for myself. I would have thought, “I can manage… I HAVE managed without this portable power plant of a battery so far…”And I have, for years, managed. But I received the E4 as a review unit (see disclosure below), and just threw it in my bag with my things when I went out.And once you realize you’ve got such in incredible reservoir of power everywhere with you, well, let’s just say your daily behavior that was previously subconscious to you… changes.First of all, for packing as much power as it does, Anker pulled it off in the sleekest possible package in my opinion. Sporting a glossy black finish with a silver matte band, it feels in the hand like two black iPhone 3GSís facing each other; only a touch heavier, taller, and wider. Just the same, it feels as solidly build and sturdy as youíd hope for in this E4. Nothing feels flimsy or neglected in itís build quality or design. If you regularly find yourself wanting to charge your devices, or feel you’re making too many compromises for the sake of battery life (airplane mode, lowering the brightness, etc.), get yourself an external battery. Throw it in your bag, and forget about finding outlets in public spaces anymore.Even if that doesn’t happen for you often, it’s perfect to take along on trips (use it for rechargeable camera batteries!), to the airport… you get the idea.I think what surprised me the most was that I was finding it useful where I never would have guessed, because it never would have dawned on me. For example, I wanted to show my friend some videos on my iPad at his place, while we wait for another friend to arrive. But my iPad didn’t have much juice left, so we could ordinarily only watch it where there was an outlet, and even then I’d need to be sure I had an extra-long cable so we could sit comfortably. Since I brought this wonder along, we took it outside, put it on a table with the E4, and cranked up the brightness. No problem.I have to run around a lot in the city for my work, so it’s great to be able to charge my iPhone or iPad with the E4 in my bag while I’m, say, on the subway. Remember though that any devices will warm up when charging, so make sure they’re not getting too hot in there. And last but not least, because of the massive battery capacity this E4 has, I don’t have to “baby” it, making sure it’s full before every outing. Even at half, its far more than enough for my iPhone, and will hold me through a few hours of video on my iPad.One tip: If you don’t have one, invest in a “2 Amp” or “2.1 Amp” USB wall charger. Chargers supplied with cell phones are often 1 Amp, while tablets like the iPad come with a charger that’s at least 2 Amps. Think of amps like rate-of-flow for electricity; the more amps, the more juice travels in a given time.Because of the E4’s immense battery capacity, you’ll want to charge it as fast as possible, because otherwise it won’t even be done overnight. Hooking it up to a computer will take FOREVER, so I don’t advise doing that.If you’re looking for something smaller, I’m a big fan of the Anker Astro Mini (link at bottom), though the compactness comes at the loss of a lot of battery capacity. Still, it’s great as a “peace-of-mind” tagalong.Full disclosure: Anker gave me this product for in exchange for my honest, unbiased feedback.1.
