Nice cabinet once defective parts were replaced. First of all, I am not prejudiced against Chinese merchandise, but some of the components of this cabinet could push one in that direction.I clearly understood that assembly was required. The directions were clear and easy to follow. It was a bit more of a chore than I had anticipated, but that was my fault. What I am complaining about is that some of the pieces were either unusable or on the verge of being that way. The pressed wood, or whatever the substance is between the nice black exteriors in most of the parts are quite good, but there are a few like the backs of the drawers that are so fragile that great care must be taken to get the screws in just right and not too tightly, so that they do not shatter the material. I recommend that a power screw driver not be used because the material might not survive– the stuff was like driving screws into styrofoam. I replaced the back panels of the two upper drawers with wood because one of them shattered into dust when a screw was driven into it. The hardware package contained exactly the right amount of screws, washers, handles, and other fittings to complete the job, but three of the metal fasteners designed to be screwed into the panels were cast defectively in a way that a screwdriver could not be used– I used a vice-grip wrench to do what a Philips screwdriver was supposed to do, but couldn’t.Considering the price of this item, I really expected more quality and fewer frustrations than I got.
