Apollo 16: Mission Control

(April 16, 1972) An overall view of activity in the Mission Operations Control Room (MOCR) in the Mission Control Center (MCC) on the first day of the Apollo 16 lunar landing mission. This picture was taken during television coverage transmitted from the Apollo 16 spacecraft on its way to the Moon. The TV monitor in the background shows how the Apollo 16 astronauts viewed the Earth from 7,500 nautical miles away.
