Windows registry errors: signs, symptoms and solutions

by Zachary S Bartlett

According to experts, nine out of ten computers have errors in their Windows registry. Registry issues are actually very common, but many times, it’s hard to decide if the Windows registry is the culprit or not.

There are times when your computer can be running a little slowly and no error messages will show up, but this could mean that there are hidden problems in your Windows registry. With many computer experts saying that nine out of ten computers have issues with their registry, the odds are good that you have a problem.

Signs the registry is the problem

If your computer is acting up what do you do to find out if you have a problem in your registry? There are a few common indicators that your computer will give off to let you know that there is a problem. If you notice any of the following symptoms you should check for registry problems.

*The blue screen of death (a chunk of technical text on a blue screen) appears. A lot of the time, that big chunk of text will tell you what caused the problem, which helps determine if it is a registry issue.

*Your computer boots up very slowly or at least slower than usual. This is one of the reasons why a registry scan is recommended every month or so.

*Your computer runs a lot slower than it used to. It can take longer for a program to load, or a normal function might seem to require more time.

*A program crashes. Sometimes, you’ll just get a generic ‘this program has encountered an error and needs to close’ message, but sometimes the error will specifically point to the registry, which is very helpful since you know where the problem is.

*Internet explorer crashes often for no reason that you can see.

*There are error messages that reference .dll files. These files are important because they are the ones that the registry runs routinely. The file listed is probably experiencing some corruption and may have important data missing.

The best way to correct these problems is to search the internet for a Windows registry cleaner. These specialized programs can repair your registry quickly and efficiently. In fact, these programs will often find problems that you didn’t even know you had.

What You Can do to Recover

Most Windows registry scanners will include the option to repair your registry. However, a good number of Windows registry repair utilities require you to purchase the full version of the program. Once you have a licensed version, the program will be able to fix all of your registry problems.

If you need help on how to obtain a good Windows registry cleaner you only have to look as far as the nearest Internet search engine. A quick search for ‘Windows registry repair tool’ should easily turn up several different sites. For those of you who are unsure of exactly what type of registry repair tool you might need, the good news is that almost every site that offers links or downloads of registry cleaning software also offers reviews of the programs. This allows you to review and compare these products before committing to them.
