Math Games Are a Path to Success
Do you have a son or daughter who is behind in math? Maybe it is a nine year old who resorts to laboriously counting on his fingers while his buddies long ago memorized their lists of addition and subtraction problems. Or perhaps your daughter refuses to absorb all those “boring” multiplication tables. Maybe the many steps of long division problems are too hard. Sometimes, the procedures for the problems they are being taught is foreign to today’s parents.
For whatever reason, math seems to be very difficult for some students, and parents feel helpless in the face of their children’s sense of failure. Sometimes fights erupt over homework, and there seems to be no improvement in sight. Math is a battleground for many families.
Whatever the cause, math skills can frequently be improved by turning what can be dull into a fun game. Math games exist for kids of every age-there are even preschool games to introduce number recognition. Chances are, your children already love to play video games. They play games online, games on PC, games on handheld devices, and games on any number of popular consoles.
So why not capitalize on this format to teach your child the math skills he or she needs to advance in the classroom? Math games make learning exciting, so the same kids who refuse to try rote memorization will gladly spend the time it takes to addition problems on the computer. A math game appeals to their sense of fun; it is challenging in a pleasant way, not a wearyingly boring way.
Math skills are too vital to let slide. These tools will benefit your children for life, and missing out means shame and struggle. Why helplessly watch your children fail when there are fun paths to success in the math?
