Attention entrepreneurs and business owners. Mark your calendars for October 1st, and head down to the City Grill in Rochester, New York for the “Tech Startup Expo“.

The event, sponsored by ESL Federal Credit Union, is intended primarily for those folks who are interested in business startups with a high-tech flair. However, anyone who has an interest in small business can likely come away with some great ideas.

Perhaps you have a great idea for a tablet or phone app. Maybe you have a service oriented idea with a technological twist. Or, possibly you’re like me, with an IT background and an interest in web-based businesses. I’m telling you, the sky is the limit.

The idea is to develop and fine-tune your entrepreneurial spirit by connecting you with techies, entrepreneurs, and other business professionals. Imagine rubbing elbows with someone who has already reaped the benefits of a successful startup. It’s a pretty exciting idea, isn’t it?

The seminars include such topics as “It Takes a Team“, by Jill Bates of Crystal Clear Consulting; “Protect Your Ideas“, by Jeffrey B. Powers of Simpson & Simpson PLLC; and “Let’s Get You Capital” by the staff at ESL Credit Union. Guests also include Brian Meiers from Tipping Point Communications, and more vendors than you can shake a stick at.

But, why Rochester? According to the event’s organizers, Brandon and Myneco Ramirez,

“By encouraging entrepreneurs to stay in Rochester we hope to increase the number of technology startups in the area and boost the use of local services and products by startups, which will benefit not only businesses but will positively effect and change our community”.

“Our mission is to cultivate Rochester’s natural entrepreneurial spirit by bringing together techies and business people, showing them that Rochester does have so much to offer and the benefits to start growing their technology businesses here.”

“Let’s I/O Together :)”
