Question by cOnfUseD: what is the difference in “physics” and “applied physics”?
i’ve noticed that some colleges have “physics” as a major, and others have “applied physics.” What is the differenece?? just wondering before i choose. =)

Applied subjects usually deal with the practical side of the course, and how it applies to everyday workings and how it’s used in jobs. e.g. Applied ICT is all practical, while ICT is theory. There may be more experiments etc too

Physics is figuring out how the universe works without much thought to the “usefulness ” of the knowledge
Applied Physics is very close to engineering. Figuring out knowledge that will be useful.
